I’ve been getting a lot of questions lately about collagen. Let’s keep our skin looking young as long as we can! Here’s some info for ya ✨

Collagen is a connective tissue in the skin. As we age, the production of new collagen stops and existing collagen begins to breakdown, creating fine lines and wrinkles as the skin loses its structural protein. There are things we can do to stimulate production and slow degeneration.

• Use a good sunscreen. UV damage contributes to most collagen breakdown. I recommend getting one with a high amount of zinc oxide.

• Consume foods high in amino acids, lysine and proline. Collagen naturally contains large amounts of these acids. Foods like beef, poultry, eggs, beans, cheese, wheat germ and nuts.

• Take a vitamin C supplement everyday. Vitamin C is required to convert lysine and proline into hydroxyl-lysine and hydroxyl-proline, the acid form needed to build new collagen.
